This song was written by the Romaniuk Family who were a family band based in Edson, Alberta in the 1940s. The Romaniuk Family were known for performing in the style of the Carter Family, and this song demonstrates clear Carter Family influences. Inspired by the fantastic scenery of the Alberta foothills, “My Alberta Rose” captures the beauty of gullies fringed with Saskatoon bushes, rustling poplars, and prairie grass. When Tod sings this song,he imagines the narrator of a play leading listeners through vignettes of Alberta’s seasons.
